All teachers in Knightsfield School have qualified teacher status and are subject specialists, having studied their subject specialism at teacher training college or university. Teaching staff hold the mandatory qualification as a teacher of the deaf or achieve this qualification within their first 3 years at Knightsfield School. Teachers attend subject training, assessment for learning training and examination board training as well as receiving specialist training in audiology, literacy and language development for deaf children.
Most of our teaching assistants have qualifications equivalent to A level or above. We support their accreditation for NVQ Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualifications. All teaching assistants have completed training in Hearing Impairment and have ongoing training from the educational audiologist, the speech and language therapists and teachers.
All staff have extensive training in safeguarding including Prevent which is delivered by qualified trainers.
