On Tuesday 6th March, Knightsfield students were given the opportunity to discover more about possible career choices when ELSA delivered a ‘Get Work Ready’ day. Students were treated to a one-day programme of fun and engaging activities designed to give them some experience of what happens at a job interview and the challenges that employers could give them during the recruitment process. The students were also given time to explore the qualities and skills that employers of today are looking for, as well as how these areas can be developed.
We were joined by a number of volunteers from local employers including Waitrose, John Lewis, Computacenter, Fortem and Willmott Dixon.
Feedback from the students confirmed that the day had been enjoyable and constructive. Mrs Thrower was very proud that they engaged with the activities and presented Knightsfield and themselves in such a positive way to the visitors. The volunteers felt that the day had been extremely useful for the students and also gave them an opportunity to explore ways to support any hearing impaired employees.
